Tasted by Jonathan Cristaldi (at Ulysses, Oakville, Napa Valley, 06 May 2024). Drinking Window: 2024–2030. The 2012 Ulysses Cabernet Sauvignon shows how quickly Christian Moueix refined this historic Oakville benchland site—long prized since its days as part of the Charles Hopper Ranch—after acquiring it in 2008. Following a wet spring, the mild, warm 2012 vintage yielded a well-balanced wine with classic cassis aromas, earthy tobacco, cocoa nib, and wild herb spice. Taut and currant-driven on the palate, with soft, sweet tannins carrying through to a graceful finish.
