#33 in James Suckling’s Top 100 Napa and Sonoma Wines of 2017. The evolution of this wine has been phenomenal since I tasted it in barrel a year ago. Black cherry, plum, and citrus character unfold into orange leaf, dark Chinese tea, and mushroom. Full-bodied with fine, velvety tannins and a subtle dustiness to the texture. Layers of chocolate, forest floor, and tobacco add complexity. Seductive mouthfeel and deep complexity. Better from 2022, though a joy to taste now.
